Today’s dirty dozen comes from manning the gazebo at this morning’s Community Clean Up at Donkey Field. Much of it is random detritus: sweet wrappers, tissues, unidentified plastic. But there are a few odd bits, like a receipt from Liverpool and the front of a VCR.
I even nabbed a few cigarette butts since I had litter pickers at hand. These tiny pieces cause a big problem: they’re not paper but plastic, and can take up to 10 years to degrade, leaching chemicals into the soil while doing so. They’re also the most littered item on the planet. So if you do smoke, please stub and bin your butts!
