#LitterWatch2017: Week 38

image

I was away last weekend–check out the MissElaineous Blog to see what I was up to–and missed another instalment of LitterWatch. However, it doesn’t look like much has happened over the past few weeks: the litter continues to fade and grow a darker coating of mould, but shows no sign of disappearing. Even the pieces that aren’t stuck on the board anymore (the balloons and cellophaned cigarette carton) are still around–they just need to be propped up for photos.

All of this underscores a serious point: all waste, whether litter or general rubbish that ends up in a landfill, is going to be with us far longer than we probably anticipate. Shouldn’t we do what we can to minimise it? I will be working on a blog post soon about simple things everyone can do to cut back on rubbish. Do you have ideas that you’d like me to include? Please send them my way!
