That’s how much I found along a 100 metre stretch of pavement on my way home this evening.
What’s in this mix? A Capri-Sun container and Oreo wrapper, likely from a student’s packed lunch. Cigarette cartons. Packaging from McDonald’s and Burger King were both represented, probably tossed from a car. A lid from a Costa coffee (but no cup). A few crisp packets. And a myriad of other detritus that people couldn’t be bothered to put in a bin or take home.
Until the UK wakes up and starts taking litter seriously as a problem, this is the type of thing that will continue to be found along our roads, in our countryside, and on our beaches.
