Five Years and Counting …

Cleaning up at Monkton Park, Chippenham

Last week’s clean up in Monkton Park was the FIFTH time Off the Ground participated in Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean. The first time we removed 26 bags of rubbish and recycling from Donkey Field …

… the next year it was 30 bags from Monkton Park …
… then 35 from Donkey Field …
… another 43 bags from Monkton Park in 2018 …
… and I am pleased to report that this year’s tally is finally starting to show a downward trend, with “only” 35 bags of rubbish and recycling recovered. Stay tuned for the recycling tally!

Many thanks to everyone who took part and dedicated part of their weekend to cleaning up Chippenham–I think we set a record for the number of participants, with at least 50 stopping by to lend a hand. I hope to see both new and experienced litter pickers at future clean ups, and please consider adopting your own local patch to keep tidy: cleaning up litter can be done at any time of year! Interested in borrowing equipment to run your own litter pick? Please get in touch!

However, cleaning is only a small part of what Off the Ground wants to accomplish: we want to stop littering in the first place! Do you want to get involved with helping us make this happen? Please let me know what you’re interested in doing so we can start planning our next projects.

NEXT COMMUNITY CLEAN UP: Saturday, 15 June, Donkey Field, 10am-Noon
