Impulse buy, impulse litter?

We noticed something interesting this weekend when popping into the local shops.  Many of the brands placed near the tills—prime impulse buy location—are the same brands we find when out on a rubbish walk. 

Coincidence?  Are those who are more prone to impulsive purchases also more likely to ditch the container when it’s no longer needed?  Or is it simply prominent brands are going to be littered no matter what?

I’ve previously mentioned the importance of understanding human behaviour with regards to better understanding litter, and this is perhaps an unexpected example in need of further investigation.
